October’s Book Club will focus on the importance of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. AFP’s IDEA Chair, Mary Yearwood, will guide our discussion of The Racial Healing Handbook: Practical Activities to Help You Challenge Privilege, Confront Systemic Racism & Engage in Collective Healing by Annelise A. Singh, PhD.

The Racial Healing Handbook offers practical tools to help you navigate daily and past experiences of racism, challenge internalized negative messages and privileges, and handle feelings of stress and shame. Topics include (re)learning the history of racism, exploring your internalized racism, understanding racism in relationships, and being a racial ally. You’ll discover the building blocks to creating a community of healing in a world still filled with racial microaggressions and discrimination. Click here to register.

The book is available on Amazon, or for free through the Houston or San Antonio Library System! Anyone with a TX driver’s license is eligible to obtain a Houston Public Library Card. Visit https://houstonlibrary.org/my-link-card-registration.

The book club is a great way to learn from each other, share your stories and experiences, and build relationships within the San Antonio fundraising community.

Sneak Peek: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable by Patrick Lencioni will be discussed on Tuesday, November 9th.

There will not be a Book Club meeting in December.
